How to Pay for Cursor (AI Code Editor) in Kenya

Try to subscribe to Cursor Pro from Kenya and there is a good chance you'll see "Your card was declined." It's not your bank and it's not your balance. Cursor bills through Stripe, and Stripe's fraud checks are unkind to cards issued in Kenya. Here is what actually works in 2026 — and an honest note on what iTey Store can and cannot sell you for it. Why your Kenyan card fails

Stripe looks at the BIN — the first digits that identify the issuing bank. Kenyan BINs score badly, and the decline is almost automatic when the card is virtual or prepaid, has never been used abroad, or the billing country on the form doesn't match the card. Nothing on your side is broken; the gate is upstream.

Your real options from Kenya

Option 1: A card that Stripe already trusts

Some Kenyan bank cards go through — ones used internationally before, on accounts with a history. Try it first. If it's declined once, don't keep retrying; repeated declines make the next attempt worse.

Option 2: A virtual dollar card service

Services such as Figo issue a USD Visa or Mastercard you fund in shillings, and those are accepted at Cursor. Per month it's the cheapest route; the friction is at the start — sign-up, identity verification, funding a wallet. We sold virtual cards ourselves until July 2026 and stopped because customers kept getting stuck at that step, so: it works, but budget twenty minutes for setup.

Option 3: A friend's foreign card

Works until it doesn't. When their card expires or they remove it, your subscription lapses mid-task.

What iTey Store does not sell — and what we do
