Why the MacBook Pro M5 Pro?
M5 Pro — Neural Accelerators in every GPU core
Each of the 20 GPU cores now carries a dedicated Neural Accelerator — Apple's biggest on-device AI uplift in years. Stable Diffusion XL, local Llama 3 8B and Whisper inference run materially faster than M4 Pro.
~273GB/s memory bandwidth · up to 48GB RAM
Roughly 2× the bandwidth of the base M5. Comfortably runs Cursor / Claude Code agent loops on a 100k-file monorepo, 4K timelines, photoshoot libraries and a local 7-13B LLM simultaneously.
24-hour battery — a full day of work
Apple's longest-battery laptop ever. A real working day of Cursor + Slack + browser tabs + a few Docker containers without reaching for the charger. MagSafe 3 for fast top-ups.
Thunderbolt 5 — 120Gb/s · drives up to 4 external displays
TB5 doubles the bandwidth of TB4. Drive two 6K Pro Display XDRs at 60Hz, or up to four external displays including 8K@60Hz. The most future-proof port spec on any laptop.
Available Colours in Kenya

From our Nairobi showroom
What we've learned selling MacBook Pro M5 Pro in Kenya
iTey has stocked every MacBook Pro generation since the M1. The M5 Pro is currently the laptop senior Kenyan developers, video editors and ML practitioners ask about most. Here is what we tell every buyer who walks into the showroom.
24GB unified is enough for 80% of buyers — but the 48GB step is the one we recommend most often
For senior backend developers, full-stack engineers and Cursor / Claude Code workflows on monorepos under ~80,000 files, the base 24GB is plenty. The 48GB step (special order — WhatsApp us) is where we recommend stretching if you (a) run a local 7-13B LLM alongside your dev environment, (b) edit 4K ProRes video, or (c) routinely run more than 6 Docker containers at once. Memory is not upgradeable after purchase — this is a once-only decision.
M5 Pro vs M5 Max — when the Max is actually worth the KSh 350,000 more
We get this question every week. The M5 Max gives you roughly 2× the GPU cores, 2× memory bandwidth (~546GB/s) and a 128GB memory ceiling. It is worth the premium only if your workload genuinely saturates the M5 Pro: 6K/8K video editing with effects-heavy timelines, on-device 70B-parameter LLMs at usable precision, large 3D / VFX rendering in Blender or Cinema 4D, or pro audio with 200+ live tracks. For everything else — including the great majority of senior dev work — the M5 Pro delivers the same real-world experience without the price jump.
Why iTey MacBook Pro prices look higher than Eastleigh / River Road quotes
Grey-market MacBooks in Kenya fall into a few buckets: refurbished units sold as new, region-locked stock with no Apple warranty path, units with iCloud Activation Lock discovered weeks later, or genuine sealed units imported without warranty paperwork. iTey ships only sealed, region-correct units with verifiable serial numbers and a warranty path we honour locally at our Cookie House showroom. The KSh 15,000 – 40,000 price gap on a high-spec MacBook is what that costs. Ask us to walk you through the cost breakdown if our price ever looks high.
Thunderbolt 5 is real, but most external displays in Kenya don't saturate it yet
Thunderbolt 5 doubles the bandwidth of TB4 (120Gb/s vs 40Gb/s) and unlocks dual 6K Pro Display XDRs or a single 8K at 60Hz. In practice, the LG / Samsung / Dell monitors most Kenyan buyers already own (1440p, single-cable 4K@60Hz) don't need this headroom. The TB5 advantage shows up when you connect to next-generation external displays, eGPUs or RAID arrays — not on a typical 27" 4K monitor. Buy the M5 Pro for the chip, not the port spec.
Trade-in math for older MacBooks — bring your current Mac to the showroom
We assess existing MacBooks (Air or Pro, M1 and newer) for trade-in credit against a new M5 Pro. Apple Silicon Macs retain value remarkably well in the Kenyan secondary market — a clean MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro or M2 Pro 16GB / 512GB currently trades for materially more than most buyers expect. Bring the device, the original charger and any AppleCare+ paperwork. The assessment takes under 30 minutes and we make a firm offer the same visit.
Who probably should not buy the M5 Pro
If you write a lot of Markdown, do mostly browser-based work, or spend most of your day in Slack and email, the M5 Pro is overkill. The MacBook Air M5 (KSh 165,000) handles all of that with the same Neural Accelerators in a 1.24kg fanless body. The M5 Pro earns its premium for (a) large-codebase AI-IDE workflows, (b) 4K video editing, (c) on-device ML inference, or (d) sustained-load workflows where the larger thermal envelope matters. We will say it plainly: better to leave with the right Mac than the most-expensive one.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the MacBook Pro M5 Pro price in Kenya?
The 14" MacBook Pro with M5 Pro chip starts at KSh 379,999 for the 24GB/1TB configuration at iTey Store Kenya, with the 24GB/2TB at KSh 439,999. 48GB configurations are available on special order. All prices exclusive of VAT. Free same-day Nairobi delivery, full Apple international warranty.
What is the difference between MacBook Pro M5 Pro and M5 Max?
The M5 Pro has a 12-core CPU and 20-core GPU with ~273GB/s memory bandwidth, scaling to 48GB unified memory. The M5 Max has up to a 16-core CPU and 40-core GPU with ~546GB/s bandwidth, scaling to 128GB unified memory — roughly 2× the GPU and bandwidth. Choose M5 Pro for senior developer workflows, 4K editing, photography, music production. Choose M5 Max for 6K/8K editing, heavy 3D rendering, on-device 70B-parameter LLMs.
Is the MacBook Pro M5 Pro good for AI coding (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot)?
Yes — it's arguably the best laptop currently sold in Kenya for AI-IDE workflows. The 12-core CPU handles Cursor and Claude Code agent loops on large monorepos without thermal throttling, and 24-48GB unified memory comfortably holds large codebases plus a local 7B-13B parameter LLM if you want to run inference off-cloud. The 24-hour battery means a full day of coding on one charge.
Can I run local LLMs on the MacBook Pro M5 Pro?
Yes. With 48GB unified memory, the M5 Pro comfortably runs Llama 3 8B at full precision, Qwen 2.5 14B at Q8, DeepSeek Coder 7B at FP16, and Stable Diffusion XL — all locally with no API spend. For 70B-parameter models at usable precision you'd need the M5 Max's 128GB ceiling. The per-core Neural Accelerators in the M5 GPU make on-device inference dramatically faster than M4 Pro.
Does the MacBook Pro M5 Pro come in Space Black?
Yes. The 14" MacBook Pro with M5 Pro chip is available in Space Black and Silver at iTey Store Kenya. Both colours are in stock with free same-day Nairobi delivery.
Is the MacBook Pro 14" M5 Pro genuine Apple with warranty?
Yes. Every MacBook Pro at iTey Store is 100% genuine, factory-sealed Apple stock with full 1-year Apple international warranty. Serial number is verifiable at checkcoverage.apple.com on delivery. iTey handles all warranty claims on your behalf — out-of-warranty Mac repairs available at our Cookie House, Accra Road showroom in Nairobi.
Does iTey Store deliver MacBook Pro outside Nairobi?
Yes. Same-day delivery for Nairobi orders placed before 2 PM. Upcountry orders (Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, all Kenyan counties) ship via verified courier within 1–3 business days. Insurance included.
Can I pay for the MacBook Pro M5 Pro with M-Pesa in Kenya?
Yes. iTey Store accepts Lipa na M-Pesa (Paybill 522522, Account: iTey Store), Visa, Mastercard and bank transfer. For high-ticket Mac purchases like the 48GB/2TB tier (KSh 475,000), WhatsApp +254 727 415 589 to discuss instalment or Sacco-financing options.
