iPhone Duo in Kenya: Price, Release Date and Whether It Beats the 18 Pro Max
Apple has made a folding iPhone. It is called the iPhone Duo, it was announced on 9 September 2026, and it goes on sale around the world on 23 October. Kenya is not one of Apple's launch countries, so the honest answer on timing is early to mid November for the first units in Nairobi.
This guide covers what Apple actually confirmed, what it costs at iTey Store in Kenyan shillings, the three things about it that will change how you use a phone every day, and who should buy the iPhone 18 Pro Max instead. Nothing here is a rumour: the specifications below come from Apple's own announcement.
iPhone Duo price in Kenya
The iPhone Duo starts at KSh 344,999 at iTey Store. Both colours cost the same at every storage size.
| Storage | Price in Kenya | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| 256GB | KSh 344,999 | Most buyers. Enough for apps, photos and a few offline films. |
| 512GB | KSh 404,999 | If you shoot a lot of 4K video or keep everything on the device. |
| 1TB | KSh 478,999 | Video work, large game libraries, years of photos. |
| 2TB | KSh 514,999 | Professional capture. Very few people need this. |
For reference, Apple confirmed USD 1,999 for the 256GB and USD 3,199 for the 2TB. Kenyan prices are not a straight currency conversion - they are built on landed cost: duty, freight, VAT handling and margin. What you see above is what you can reserve at today.
Prices are what you pay. If your company needs a VAT (eTIMS) invoice, tick that box at checkout and 16% VAT is added to the total.
When it actually reaches Kenya
Apple ships from 23 October in more than 70 countries. Kenya is not among them, and it never is. Stock reaches Nairobi through distribution, which normally takes two to four weeks after a global launch. That puts realistic first availability in early to mid November 2026.
Anyone promising you a Duo on 23 October in Nairobi is either guessing or selling you a grey-market import. We will tell you the day ours land, and not before.

The three things that will change how you use it
1. The battery is the best Apple has ever shipped
Up to 44 hours of video on the outer screen is the longest figure Apple has ever published for an iPhone. The reason is the folding design itself: two halves means room for two batteries. In practice, if you spend most of your day on the outer screen and open the device for maps, documents and video, this is a phone that finishes a long day with charge to spare.
2. Touch ID, not Face ID
This surprises people. The Duo unlocks with a fingerprint sensor built into the side button, the same approach as the iPad Air. On a device with two screens that is the practical choice - and in bright Nairobi sunlight a fingerprint works in situations where face recognition often hesitates. If you wear sunglasses or a helmet daily, you may well prefer it.
3. There is no SIM tray at all
The iPhone Duo is eSIM only, everywhere in the world. That is not a Kenyan limitation, it is the design. Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom all support eSIM, so your line moves across - but it is a conversion, not a swap, and it is worth doing in the showroom rather than on your own the night before a trip. We do it for you when you collect. If you run two lines, check both support eSIM before you commit.
iPhone Duo or iPhone 18 Pro Max?
This is the real decision for most buyers, because the iPhone 18 Pro Max is in stock today from KSh 260,000 - well below the Duo.
| iPhone Duo | iPhone 18 Pro Max | |
|---|---|---|
| Price from | KSh 344,999 | KSh 260,000 |
| Availability | Reserve now, arrives November | In stock in Nairobi |
| Screen | 7.6-inch folding, 5.4-inch outer | 6.9-inch |
| Chip | A20 Pro | A20 Pro - identical |
| Camera | 48MP Fusion, 2x telephoto | 48MP with physical variable aperture, 8x optical-quality zoom |
| Unlock | Touch ID | Face ID |
| Battery (video) | Up to 44 hours, outer screen | Up to 45 hours |
Buy the iPhone 18 Pro Max if photography is why you buy a flagship. It has the better camera system - the variable aperture is a real lens mechanism, not a software effect - it costs considerably less, and you can walk out with it today.
Buy the iPhone Duo if you genuinely want a tablet that folds into your pocket: if you read contracts, mark up documents, run two apps side by side, or watch a lot of video on the move. That is the whole argument for it, and for the right person it is worth the difference. For everyone else, the Pro Max is the better phone for less money.
Buying one at iTey Store
You can reserve the iPhone Duo now with a 70% deposit to Paybill 247247, account 097118, and pay the balance when you collect. The price you book at is the price you pay, even if it moves before your unit lands. We contact you the day stock arrives in Nairobi.
Every unit is genuine, sealed and never activated, with the serial verifiable at checkcoverage.apple.com, and it comes with an iTey Store receipt. We also take trade-ins against it: bring your current iPhone in and the agreed value comes straight off the price.
One note if you are paying from abroad: a card issued outside Kenya takes up to three working days to clear, and we dispatch once the payment shows in our account. M-Pesa and Kenyan cards clear the same day.
Frequently asked questions
When does the iPhone Duo reach Kenya?
Apple ships globally from 23 October 2026. Kenya is not a launch country, so stock arrives through distribution two to four weeks later - early to mid November is realistic. Reserve now and we contact you the day ours land.
How much is the iPhone Duo in Kenya?
From KSh 344,999 for the 256GB at iTey Store, up to KSh 514,999 for the 2TB. Both colours cost the same at every size.
Does the iPhone Duo have Face ID?
No. It uses Touch ID built into the side button, like the iPad Air.
Does it take a physical SIM card?
No. It is eSIM only in every country and has no SIM tray. Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom all support eSIM, and we convert your line for you in the showroom.
What colours does it come in?
Two at launch: Star White and Night Sky.
Is the Duo better than the iPhone 18 Pro Max?
Not for photography - the Pro Max has the stronger camera and costs less. The Duo is better if you want the large folding screen. They share the same A20 Pro chip, so there is no speed difference between them.
Can I trade in my old iPhone against it?
Yes. iTey Store publishes its trade-in values and the agreed amount comes off the price on the same visit. Battery health must be above 80% and the phone should be free of cracks.
Where to see it
iTey Store is at Cookie House, Accra Road, 3rd Floor, Store 311, Nairobi CBD, Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 7 PM. Browse the iPhone Duo, compare it against the iPhone 18 Pro Max, check your trade-in value, or WhatsApp +254 727 415 589.
