The M5 Max with 64GB unified memory handles 95% of professional creative and engineering workloads sold in Kenya — Final Cut Pro 8K timelines, Logic Pro session counts beyond 200 tracks, Xcode + simulator + heavy Docker. You only need the M5 Ultra when your workload is local LLM inference at the 70B+ parameter scale (Llama 3 70B unquantised, DeepSeek V3, Qwen 72B FP16). If you are buying Mac Studio for video, code or 3D — Max is almost always the right buy. Save the Ultra premium for actual frontier-LLM work.

Mac Studio's RAM is soldered to the SoC. There is no aftermarket upgrade, ever. If you plan to grow into 70B-parameter local models within the next year, buy the memory now. The Apple display is worth its premium only if you want the matched aluminum aesthetic and the integrated webcam. For pure workstation duty, we steer most buyers to a quality third-party 5K — ask us which models we have current Kenya stock on.
Who should not buy a Mac Studio (yet)
We will say it plainly in the showroom: skip Mac Studio if you (a) need portability — a 16-inch MacBook Pro M5 Max gives 90% of the performance and you can take it to clients, (b) primarily play AAA Windows games — even M5 Ultra's 80-core GPU is the wrong machine for that workload, or (c) are buying based on "future-proofing" without a clear workload that uses the headroom. Mac Studio is a workhorse, not a status piece. If you cannot name the specific job you are buying it to do, you probably want a Mac Mini or MacBook Pro instead.
