Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 in Kenya — Price, Specs and Whether to Wait
Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 on 9 September 2026. Both go on sale worldwide on Friday 18 September, and watchOS 27 arrived on 14 September.
Kenya is not one of Apple's first-wave countries, so neither watch is on our shelves yet. This article is the honest version of what they are, what genuinely changed, what they will cost here, and — the question most people actually want answered — whether you should wait or buy now.

The Health Sensing System is the real story
Both watches get what Apple calls the Health Sensing System: new optical and electrical heart sensors that read your heart rate every five seconds, all day long, and measure heart rate variability up to 24 times more often than last year's models. Apple describes it as the most accurate heart rate sensing in a wearable.
That sounds like a specification. It is actually the enabling change, because everything else new depends on having that much data:
- Readiness. A score from 0 to 10 each morning with one plain instruction attached — Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready, or Go For It. Not six graphs. One answer.
- Hypertension notifications. The watch can flag signs consistent with high blood pressure over time and tell you to get checked.
- Sleep score and sleep apnea notifications, alongside sleep stages.
- Overnight vitals now include recovery HRV, so it reads how well you recovered rather than only how long you were in bed.
A word of caution on hypertension notifications, because it is the feature people will misread. It is not a blood pressure cuff. It does not give you a reading. It watches for patterns over time and tells you to see a doctor. In a country where a routine check-up is not routine, a wrist device that nudges you toward a clinic has real value — but treat it as a prompt, not a diagnosis.

Apple Watch Series 12 — what changed
Beyond the health sensors, three things:
Ceramic Shield 2
The aluminium models now use Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, which Apple says is 60% tougher than the Ion-X glass it replaces. That is the first serious durability upgrade the aluminium Series has had in years, and it matters more than it sounds if you have ever cracked a watch face on a door frame.
Ceramic, for the first time
The Series line now comes in ceramic — pearl white and night blue — alongside four aluminium finishes (dark bronze, light gold, black, space gray) and two titanium (radiant gold, natural). Ceramic uses sapphire rather than Ceramic Shield 2, and it is heavier: 51.3g for the 46mm against 38.6g for aluminium. It is a materials choice, not a performance one.
5G
Cellular models now run 5G as well as LTE.

Apple Watch Ultra 4 — what changed
Fifty hours
This is the headline. Apple added up to 14 more hours over the Ultra 3, taking normal use to 50 hours and Low Power Mode to 84. Extended Workout runs 25 hours, a quarter longer than before; Max Extended reaches 45. Fifteen minutes on the charger buys you 18 hours.
For anyone who has spent a weekend away resenting a charging puck, that single change is worth more than every sensor on the back of the watch.
Satellite, included
Satellite communications are built in and free for two years from activation. If you climb, ride or drive where there is no network — which in Kenya is most of the places worth going — you can still reach emergency services.
One honest caveat: satellite coverage and the exact services available depend on Apple's partners in each region. If you are buying the Ultra 4 specifically for satellite in Kenya, ask us to confirm what is live here before you commit.
Printed titanium
The case is 3D-printed from 100% recycled Grade 5 titanium, in natural or black, at 49 x 44 x 12mm and 63g. The display sits under flat sapphire and hits 3,000 nits — readable in Nairobi midday sun without cupping your hand over it.

| Spec | Ultra 4 |
|---|---|
| Case | 49 x 44 x 12mm Grade 5 titanium, natural or black, 63g |
| Display | 422 x 514, 326 ppi, 3,000 nits peak, 1 nit minimum, flat sapphire |
| Battery | 50 hours normal, 84 Low Power, 25 Extended Workout, 45 Max Extended |
| Water | 100m ISO 22810:2010, recreational scuba to 40m (EN13319), IP6X |

| Bands | Trail Loop, Alpine Loop, and a new translucent silicone Ocean Band |
| Requires | iPhone 11 or later on iOS 27 |
A note on bands and colours
Apple sells these watches on a range of bands — woven Trail and Alpine Loops on the Ultra, Sport Loop, Braided Solo Loop and Milanese on the Series. iTey Store does not stock the fabric or mesh bands. Every watch we bring in comes on silicone: the Sport Band on the Series 12, the Ocean Band on the Ultra 4. So the photographs on this page and on our product pages show silicone, because that is what you would actually receive.
You can pick your colour when you join the list:
| Model | Colours you can choose |
|---|---|
| Series 12 | Dark Bronze, Light Gold, Black, Space Gray — in 42mm or 46mm aluminium |
| Ultra 4 | Natural Titanium, Black Titanium — 49mm |
Titanium and ceramic Series 12 finishes can be ordered in on request.
What they cost in Kenya
Apple held US prices flat this year — the Series 12 starts at $399 and the Ultra 4 at $799, exactly what the Series 11 and Ultra 3 launched at, despite pre-launch reports suggesting the Series 12 would climb to $429. Because Apple did not raise prices, neither have we.

Should you wait?
Our honest read, and we would rather sell you the right watch than the one in the box:
Wait for the Series 12 if
You want the new health features specifically. Heart rate every five seconds, Readiness, hypertension notifications and sleep score are a genuine step, not a yearly increment. It costs the same as the Series 11, so there is no price penalty for waiting a few weeks.
Buy the Series 11 today if
You want a watch rather than a health monitor. The Series 11 at KSh 54,999 does ECG, blood oxygen, sleep tracking and every notification you will actually use, and it is on the shelf now.
Wait for the Ultra 4 if
Battery is your complaint. Going from 42 to 50 hours, with 84 in Low Power Mode, is the difference between charging mid-trip and not thinking about it. If you also want satellite messaging, that seals it.
Buy the Ultra 3 today if
You need it now. The case, the 3,000-nit sapphire display and the dive rating are unchanged on the Ultra 4 — the Ultra 3 at KSh 109,999 is the same watch with a smaller battery and the older sensors.
Questions we are already getting
When exactly will you have them in Kenya?
We do not know, and we are not going to invent a date. Apple's global on-sale date is 18 September 2026 and Kenya is not in the first wave, so our stock follows. Leave your number on the Series 12 or Ultra 4 page and we will call you the day it arrives.
Can I pay a deposit now to reserve one?
No. We take deposits on back-order items where we can give you a realistic window. We cannot do that here yet, so we are not taking your money.
Will the price change?
The prices above are what we expect to sell at, based on Apple holding US pricing flat. Import costs and exchange rates move, so we will confirm the figure when stock lands.
Do I need a new iPhone?
No. Both watches work with an iPhone 11 or later, including the SE second generation, running iOS 27.
Will my existing bands fit?
Series 12 uses the same 42mm and 46mm case sizes as the Series 11, and the Ultra 4 stays at 49mm, so existing bands carry over.
