From our Nairobi showroom
What we've learned selling Xbox in Kenya
Xbox is the quiet value play in Kenya — and the console where Game Pass changes the maths most buyers do in their head. We sell every edition from the showroom, and these are the patterns we see every week, plus the gotchas that cost buyers money.
Series X or Series S — it comes down to your TV, not your budget
If you have a 4K TV, the Series X (KSh 89,999) is the buy — native 4K, disc drive, the full 12-TFLOPS experience. On a 1080p or 1440p TV the Series S (currently out of stock at iTey) runs the exact same games off the same CPU and you genuinely will not see the difference — the KSh 29,000 saving is real, not a downgrade. We talk people out of the Series X here every week: if your screen is 1080p, keep the difference.
Game Pass is the real reason to buy Xbox — and it rewrites the price comparison
The console price is only half the story. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate puts 100+ games — including every Microsoft first-party title on day one (Halo, Forza, Starfield, Gears of War) — behind one monthly fee. For a buyer who would otherwise pay KSh 4,500–9,800 per game, that maths flips fast. Game Pass is a Microsoft subscription — the easy way to fund it from Kenya is an Xbox gift card, which you buy here with M-Pesa and redeem to your Microsoft account.
The Series S 512GB storage trap — plan for it on day one
The Series S ships with 512GB, of which roughly 330GB is actually usable. Two or three modern installs (Call of Duty alone is 100GB+) and it is full. The official storage expansion card is the only seamless way to add next-gen space, and it is not cheap. If you are a heavy or multi-game player, the Series X 1TB — or the 2TB Galaxy edition (KSh 129,999) — is the smarter spend than a Series S plus an expansion card later.
Robot White Digital vs the disc edition — what KSh 9,000 actually buys you
The Robot White 1TB Digital (currently out of stock — WhatsApp to be notified) is full Series X power for less. The catch: no disc drive means no physical games — no buying used, no lending or borrowing, no selling a finished title to recover value. In Kenya that second-hand disc market is bigger than buyers expect. If you buy everything digitally, take the saving; if you swap games with friends, get the Carbon Black disc edition (KSh 89,999).
The "cheap Xbox" on classifieds usually has a story
We get the messages weekly: a "sealed" Series X a few thousand cheaper from a stranger online. The common endings — a console banned from Xbox Live, a refurbished unit sold as new, or a UK-region bundle whose subscriptions do not transfer. iTey ships sealed units with Microsoft-verifiable serials and full warranty; the price gap is the cost of skipping that worry.
Who should not buy an Xbox (we will tell you)
Skip Xbox if you mainly want PlayStation exclusives (God of War, Spider-Man, The Last of Us), or if your friend group games entirely on PS5 and you want to play and party-chat together. We would rather point you to a PS5 than sell you an Xbox you will regret. But if you value Game Pass and four generations of backwards compatibility, Xbox is the better-value box — full stop.
